Meet The Team: Claudia Amba, Chief Concierge

Claudia Abma was born in Lima, Peru and joined the Fontainebleau® Team in 1998. Throughout her childhood, Claudia’s father was employed by the United Nations and was sent to multiple countries to complete different missions. Being able to travel influenced Claudia’s love for different cultures and passion for assisting others. She’s lived in Guatemala City; Managua, Nicaragua; Conakry, French Guinea, Kigali, and Rwanda, before settling in the U.S. After earning her degree in hospitality from Miami Dade College, Claudia attended FIU and started an internship at the Miami Airport Hilton. Once her internship was complete, she was able to transition to Fontainebleau® as a concierge. As a concierge, Claudia has earned the role of a Les Clefs d’Or Concierge. Les Clefs d’Or means “the keys of gold” in French which is the symbol of an elite concierge organization of about 4,000 members world-wide employed at four and five-star hotels. As an experienced concierge, Claudia is dedicated to providing excellent service to all.

If I weren’t at Fontainebleau®, I’d be

A Concierge with another prestigious organization. I love the experiences and amount of guests you can meet daily.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?

My biggest inspiration has been my mother. She was a very hard working woman and always encouraged me to not depend on anyone and to follow my dreams and passions.

Best career advice I’ve gotten

Do what you love and love what you do.

The three qualities that got me where I am today:

Ambition, attention to detail and hard work

Change I’d like to see in my industry

More support for the service concierges provide. Guests are constantly looking for experiences and an educated Concierge that is supported by their management can offer invaluable experiences leading to higher guest satisfaction.

Who I admire and Why:

I admire so many people. I try to take always something for everyone. Everyone has strengths and something to offer and we must learn from each other.

On my bucket list

I would love to go to Choquequirao. It’s one of the newest wonders of the world. It is located in Cusco, Peru and bigger than Macchu Picchu.
