Fontainebleau has served as the backdrop for many historic and impactful films that have come out in the past 60 years and we have comprised a list of some of our favorite films to date. Take a look back into some of the most iconic movies filmed on property at the Fontainebleau.
- The Bellboy, 1960: Stanley is a mute bellboy working at the luxurious Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach and in spite of being a serviceable and friendly employee, the clumsy Stanley gets successively into trouble with his mistakes.
- Goldfinger, 1964: James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve while investigating a gold magnate’s smuggling. Starring Sean Connery.
- The Bodyguard, 1992: A former Secret Service agent takes on the job of bodyguard to an R&B singer, whose lifestyle is most unlike a President’s. Starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.
- The Specialist, 1994: A woman entices a bomb expert she’s involved with into destroying the mafia that killed her family. Starring Sylvester Stallone.
- Tony Rome, 1967: Tony Rome, a tough Miami PI living on a boat, is hired by a local millionaire to find jewelry stolen from his daughter, and in the process has several encounters with local hoods as well as the Miami Beach PD. Featuring Frank Sinatra.
- Scarface, 1983: In Miami in 1980, a determined Cuban immigrant takes over a drug cartel and succumbs to greed. Played by Al Pacino.
- Lady in Cement, 1968: During an ocean dive, Miami gumshoe Tony Rome finds a woman’s body with its feet encased in a concrete block and sets-out to solve the murder case. Featuring Frank Sinatra and Raquel Welch.
- The Birdcage, 1996: A cabaret owner and his drag queen companion agree to put up a false straight front so that their son can introduce them to his fiancé’s right-wing moralistic parents. Played by Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Gene Hackman.
- Pain and Gain, 2013: A trio of bodybuilders in Florida get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong played by Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie.
- War Dogs, 2016: Loosely based on the true story of two young men, David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli, who won a three hundred-million-dollar contract from the Pentagon to arm America’s allies in Afghanistan featuring Jonah Hill, Miles Teller and Steve Lant.
